I am not that worried about the markets now. Most of the bad news are out now. I think that we are in some kind of flat correction.
Although in real terms the stock market may not get higher (because the value of the dollar keeps going lower) I would expect a new wave of manic buying during 2008 and 2009. It is a bubble economy, after all.

I'm kind of glad that the FED cut the interest rates, but it's really more of psychological fix. We don't know if this will have any real impact in the housing crisis, if any.

According to me at present, President Bush and Bernanke statements were clear to bring up the cheer at investor's face but still it would be a hurry to make any stock investing at this point. Coming events like clear economic data and Fed's decision to continue interest cut will make more clear direction to stock market.

Agree with the comments on the housing bust... I've got one more "fix n flip" to get rid of (at a currently reduced price) before I can say I'm out of the housing business (for a while). My only disagreement with the post is the "commercial developer comments". The turnaround hit pretty quickly - before big builders had a chance to react. They started projects with a 9 - 12 month building time frame - and are those projects are just now approaching completion - in the worst of times for them........
