Options trading tends to be more complicated for beginning investors than is investing in common stocks. There is more of a risk factor, therefore, greater education is offered to try and lessen this impact for neophytes.

The Chicago Board of Exchange has 1,2, or 3 day seminars that are geared towards beginning options traders.

The Options Institute's goal is to expand the knowledge and thereby increase the comfort level of options users. The Institute provides training on how to manage risk in an increasingly complex marketplace through the use of effective options strategies. Classes and seminars for individual investors, retail brokers, institutional investors and Federal and State securities regulators are offered on a regular basis.

You can always try learning by getting your feet wet, but most options trading accounts will require that you possess at least some knowledge of the trade.
