Verizon Names New COO

Yesterday Verizon (VZ) announced that they have named a new COO (Chief Operating Officer.)

Denny Strigl was named COO and will take his new position on January 1, 2007. Current president Lawrence Babbio, who is also vice chairman, will retire at the end of the first quarter. Mr. Strigl is currently the chief executive of Verizon's wireless joint venture with Vodafone Group Plc.

Verizon is looking to increase efficiency and offer a number of attractive bundle services for consumers under Mr. Strigl's lead.
