Where do I go to learn?

WellsTrader said: "I am fairly new to investing in stock, and I am EXTREMLY new to trading on my own without a broker. Where do you all recommend I go to learn all the lingo, like shorting, and bullish, etc? Does anyone recommend any certain books or anything?"

HappyHarry said: "Use the Internet. Here's some good info Stock Market Basics The books by Peter Lynch are very good for beginners. And don't be afraid to ask questions."

chahinemm said: "here is another good site that will give u the basic concepts http://www.investopedia.com/ chahine"

HappyHarry said: "Also, you can use Stock Market F.A.Q And feel free to ask any questions you have."

chahinemm said: "we only have few rules in this forum 1- no spam 2- ask as many question as u want even if u thing they are dumb for the only question that is dumb are the ones that are not asked. 3- and repeat 1 and 2 :D chahine"

HappyHarry said: "And if you plan on spamming, at least be clever. :D"

chahinemm said: "
And if you plan on spamming, at least be clever. :D
hahahah wouldn't work ill flag it and throw it to in the garbage ;) chahine"

HappyHarry said: "Good thing we have enforcers!"

WellsTrader said: "Thanks so much for those great sites. I went out and bought a book too, so hopefully soon enough I will be talking the stock market talk like you guys. I am one of those kinds of guys that has no idea what to do with my money. I started investingon my own in a Wells Trade account recently because my relationship with my broker is falling apart, and thought I could do fine on my own. I guess I don't know NEAR what I thought I did."

chahinemm said: "i started fairly unaware myself so don't hesitate to ask. i know every1 will try to help with the best of their capacities and if they can't ther is always the internet a huge source of inforamtion and im sure info exist down there just needs to be dug up. chahine"

HappyHarry said: "Just start slow, Wells Trader. Be cautious and eager to learn and you will learn enough to outproduce your broker in no time."

WellsTrader said: "Thanks alot. I am eager to learn. I think I am going to get hammered on one of my first individual trades. RMKR. I bought them a few weeks ago and thought it would be great. Then I saw Tonys' post of small caps he was loading up on and thought that it would be solid, but its just not performing how I had hoped, and I am down about .13 per share. Live and learn though right...."

WellsTrader said: "
Losing money on stocks is the same as spending money on education.
LoL, that is very true.. Too bad I am spending money on education too. So its a double wammie for me."

Heather said: "The other golden rule of trading is do your own due diligence. Before you go and initiate a trade, you should have a basic understanding of what the company does. if you are just starting out, not going your research your trade can get you burned. ( as you learned. ) Trading stocks is all about timliness. Having patience is one discipline that you'll learn too.."

WellsTrader said: "Do you guys have any thoughts on RMKR. Should I sell and take the loss or hang on till 4th quarter reports come out? In the last 20 minutes today they come back to break even on the day."

AlfredSokol said: "If you've been losing badly, then cut your losses. This is why they always say, plan the trade and trade the plan. You need to know when you should get out. But get out now if you're losing."

WellsTrader said: "You make cutting your losses sound so easy.... In the back of my mind I have this crazy thought that it is going to come back. I am only down around .20 per share.... too bad I now have over 2000 shares..... I think I will wait until 4th quarter reports come out, see if they bounce back then get out.... Hopefully they havent fallen off the planet by then."

Heather said: "If you cant say what your reasons are for buying it you might be best served to sell them. I don't play much in the penny stock arena, but that is what I would do. Every once and again a penny stock also has a big run up, but ultimately it is your decision."

WellsTrader said: "My reasons for buying were other peoples advise. I didnt start doing my own independant research until this week. Thanks for the tip though... I will definately take everythign said on this forum to heart down the road."

AlfredSokol said: "This type of thing happens to everyone. Lot's of people buy because of tips."

WellsTrader said: "So I suppose finding the guys that give the best tips probably help. (hmm, that gives me an Idea I would like to throw at the moderator.)"

AlfredSokol said: "If we really had negative points for spelling and grammar Chahine would have been suspended a long time ago! And we'd be missing out. :D"
