I found this forum thru a google search. I was looking for any type of stock/investment websites with forums and this one happened to come up in the results list. I've just recently started to obtain some interest in this whole stock market thing, partly because of my dad who has always played with the stocks on and off throughout my entire life.
Without sounding like a total n00b, can I ask if any of you guys could point me in the right direction as to learning some basic knowledge with regards to investing in the stock market? I've been scouring thru this forum for the past hour and there is a LOT of information. But some of it is still a 3rd language to me.
A quick bio about myself...
My name is Justin and I am 22 years old. I live at home with my parents and I work a full time day job doing I.T. (computers) for Ace Cash Express, a retail check cashing company. I make an attempt to go to school part time when possible. Past time hobbies include riding my Harley and DJ'ing electronic dance music. I buy way too many toys and I am trying to train myself to stop. I keep telling myself to invest in something. Now I am looking at stocks.
Any insights you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin :)"

The banks pay a dividends @ a decent rate. Also right now they are going through a big thing where some banks are trying to buy each other out but as of right now the government is stopping them however with the Canadian election coming up thats a hot topic.
I dunno I am kind of rambling now but check them out ticker symbols:
BNS (Bank of Nova Scotia)
RY (Royal BAnk)
TD (TD Canada Trust)
BMO (Bank of Montreal)
CM (CIBC)"
