What Broker?What Broker?
crazy said: "I appolgize if this question has been asked before (and i am sure that it has). I tried using the search function, and it didnt really show what i was looking for.
I'm just now trying to get into this "game" for day trading and penny stocks. Here is my situation:
-I have limited income, a college student, so I really only have a little money to throw into stocks... So basically I've been looking for a decent online broker that doesnt require a min deposit. I have come to find tradeking.com which seems to have decent com rates and trade rates.... but tack on 1 cent for every share of stock that i trade that is priced under $2.
So basically if i purchase $100 of a stock listed at .02 i'm gonna have to add on another $50 + $5 trade fees.... seems silly to spend $55 on a $100 trade.
So basically what i would like to know is what brokers you guys use, and what you recommed (and i can expect you to be as honest and cruel with me as you need to) for me to get into all of this.
ANOTHER question:
When a stock's ask or bid price is listed like this, 1.80 x 500, does that mean that it's sold in 500 bundles or what? what does that 500 (or any other number) mean?
Thank you for your time, and I am deeply sorry for being such a newbie at this. Gotta start somewhere, right?"

First month you get $2.99 per trade.
Check it out."

I have been using them since Oct and have had no problems and they have great rates. If you try buying 100,000 shares you won't go broke with them. Most others charge a lot. Check them out and need no money to open an account. Good Luck :D"

Yeah, I've been using Firstrade and anything over 5000 shares you get charged something per/share. Don't recall the schedule right now but it's not good for pennies.
So Lowtrades will go up to 100,000 shares at the flat commission?"

i believe it's up to 500,000 that's what their site says, that's the largest order their system can handle at one time. I believe it may be wrong though, cause I quoted a 1,000,000 order and had no problems."
