Follow-up for a Happy Harry Suggestion

fireopal said: "hope no one gets pissed by this but hh ended lance's thread by saying maybe another one could be created that we would all be proud of, which got me thinking a little... what would that thread look like and what would stand strong long after the other threads have come and gone and what might separate superior investor even more from the many hype forums out here. the following is an idea that came through as one that is still on the learning curve and observing the various questions that do come up in the various sections and various threads of this forum. what about having a stock school section where any and all types of questions such as things like splits, shorts, brokers etc - all things relating to a new person wanting to learn something that is outside of actual stock talk could be and where those questions could be addressed - would that be a possibility? personally - investopedia can't answer many of my questions and i think it would be great to have an area where all new people could be sent rather than having the questions and answers all over the place - not to mention duplicate threads for some of the same questions that seem to come up over and over again, and this would stand strong and would be something that all could be proud of (i think)... so this my input for hh's suggestion and maybe others have more ideas to offer??"

thezster said: "I'm getting a little tired of repeating the rules for day trading..... Pattern day trading..... swing trading..... account minimums...... etc..... I don't mind doing it... but would prefer the answers be available by saying "Go look at the question/answer section..." :)"

Heather said: "If you'd like to write them out, they can be added in the forum software as an FAQ or a Permanent page. Make the waters easier to navigate.."

thezster said: "Thanks Hathor... now all I've got to do is remodel my newest property acquisition, care for my 2 year old, keep my wife happy, and put down on paper all my intelligent thoughts........ (of course, those thoughts won't take up an awful lot of space.. :D ).. I'll get around to it as soon as I can... it's a good idea... Thanks..."

That way it can be written once and everyone could reger it to the "n00bs". Dont know who'd write them, though. I would if I had more knowledge, but I dont."

Heather said: "You shouldn't have to feel nervous. I think maybe with some "ego" gone, things will be getting better around here."

fireopal said: "whew - glad this was liked!! not feeling uncomfortable or having to worry about posting a dumb question would be very great and could be done in the school area without any worry about being called any names or pissing someone off!!!! can relate to what thezster said so wouldn't a good bit of the info already be here in the various posts? if so, then maybe an easier way to go about collecting some of the info to begin specific threads might be to check under individual names and locate the info and then do a cut and paste into a specific thread? i know where i asked a dumb question about flipping versus shorting and could get the answer for what a short is by doing a search under all of my posts, along with the beginnings of chart analysis, brokers, trading tool links and annual report questions... and if the questions or answers are not here and/or cannot be easily located then maybe just setting up a thread for it to be asked there would be enough for now??"

bubagumpshrimp said: "this is the exact reason i made a few "Master Posts" in hopes that everyone will add to it and the new people can get all the info in one place rather then 20 different posts.. On other message boards all the important/common stuff is stuck at the top of the page--often called a sticky like someone here already mentioned. There could be a sticky by thezster for "Daytrading FAQ's". There could be another for all the online brokers that people use etc..."

fireopal said: "as a new one unless the sticky was clearly labled in each of the sections then i wouldn't have known until now what it was -- so how many would have to be at the top of a page in the penny and let's talk stock areas for all of the possible questions/answers that would/could be asked? have a sensing that there would be at least a page or so of em, so maybe a sticky could be at the top of the page in these areas to let all new people know about the school section where questions/answers are?"
