2.89/ gallon..
Summer isn't even here yet! I wonder what'll be costing in the summer.. 5.00 a gallon?"
Grifter said: "Heh, over in Riverside, Cali. its already a good 3 dollars. I think we will be certainly paying 4 dollars this summer, I dont know about 5. I think people will just stop driving at 4 and take the bus or bike."

Bezzle01 said: "The last time i filled up in florida it was already @ 2.89(93 octane)... maybe the guys where you are just realized they were serverely under and decided to catch up lol."
Grifter said: "Oh wow, you use 93 octane, thats something hard to find in Los Angeles"
Harry said: "This just tends to dip the overall market even more. Today I do see any stock benefactors...albeit they may raise their heads laters.
Toyota Motors is down some changes..of cource strong times ahead!
Honda not doing much...Valero down some change.
WHERE THE VALUE for investors on higher gas???"
Grifter said: "Yeah, long term honda looks really strong. That and I own a civic ;) I love my car. Ive watched it go up from 27 dollars to 31, very nicely. Alternative energy... thats where its at!"
lil dickie said: "I can't see gas prices going down anytime either."
AlfredSokol said: "The price increases flow right to the bottom line of the oil companies. Bottom line, dumbass Americans will keep paying and will never once consider conservation."

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Somewhere there is the ultimate "line of pain". Maybe it ain't $3. It might be $4 or %5. Bet we'll recognize it when we see it. :("

Pianist said: "The question is, for those of us that do not own big oil (that be most of us),
HOW do we profit from this?
I'd like to know some stock ideas. Anyone?"
Pianist said: "Let me tell you a story... ABOUT BIODIESEL.
I'm a pianist who competed in the Van Cliburn competition (about as big as it gets for a pianist!) held in Texas.
The Van Cliburn was sponsored by Exxon and at one of the big gala parties I went to I got to talk with the big muckity mucks from Exxon in Texas.
Ehh... being a person who likes to stir up the stuff, I started prodding the Exxon execs about BIODIESEL. Now, if you don't know about biodesel -- look it up on the web. Basically, biodiesel is cultivated from many different types of plants (or can used from oil from fryers) and can even be reliably mixed with dyno diesel. And yep, the diesel engine was actually INVENTED to run on farm produced organic waste oil from farmer’s crops in the first place!
So the end result is that biodiesel will run in any EXISTING diesel engine today. That's right, no new form of technology is needed. It actually gets better gas mileage! SAFE! You can also use it as a replacement for heating oil.
Ok... now back to my story with the Dartmouth educated Exxon exec in Texas. His first reaction was..... "How much does this stuff cost?" Ehh... I sheepishly said about $3.00 a gal but it can be manufactured at home for really cheap... sometimes as low as 50 cents a gallon if you use waste cooking oil in bulk from restuarants.
So the end result here is that the big companies will not change their status until we start taking matters into our own hands. I think Biodiesel has a very bright future as it can be started with small operating costs and you can NOW compete with the big boys now that they have gone bonkers with prices.
Any entrepreneurs out there??? It's a big big opportunity here!"
