I think the company's sound and is well branded with good brands but I don't know why it's going down... possibly lost share in the improving (and I am losing "improving" loosely) apparel departments (by brand) with Walmart and the uncertainty surrounding increasing the extent to which grocery-type consumables are sold. This last part is tough to introduce but is intended to draw loyal customers more frequently. I might sell but there's no way I would short it. Be careful.
from marketwatch 5/4: "Target same-store sales up 10.4% in April (8:32 AM ET) NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Target Corp. (TGT) said April same-store sales rose 10.4%, ahead of the average target of 10% in a survey of analysts by Thomson First Call. Total sales increased by 17% to $3.974 billion from $3.387 billion. For the first quarter, comparable store sales rose 5.1% and total sales increased 11.8% to $12.5 billion."

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Retail shares rose on Friday, led by home electronics retailer Circuit City Stores Inc. (CC : Circuit City Stores, Inc.- Last: 29.75+1.71+6.10%. Citigroup raised its price target on Circuit City to $36 a share from $30 a share, and advised clients to buy the stock ahead of the retailer's May 17 investor conference. Also rising in early trading was Lowes Cos. (LOW : Lowe's Companies, Inc. Last: 65.32+2.58+4.11%........."
