Intel - INTC

acandj said: "Intel would be a good company to Invest in now, they are going to release there new CPU chips with some new technology. :) I cant wait to get!"

alhamid said: "Don't forget they sell tons of chips for cellular also. Centrino was a big hit. I did not like my AMD as much"

fivaxis said: "I had some a few weeks ago, it started flattening out and hit my stop but I still made 3% off it. It's been going sideways since then."

AlfredSokol said: "The trouble with Intel is the huge market cap. Same problem for all the former "tech leaders" of the last bull run. They have enormous inventories of stock to sell. I'd really like to see INTC buy back shares."

IntelligentInvestor said: "May I ask what effect share buybacks from companies has on their financial statements (Balance Sheet and Income Statement). Also what impact would it have on the stock if you're holding it. I know the value of it might increase because EPS is now higher. I guess PE lowers if EPS rises."

alhamid said: "you basically got it. since there are less shares, eps goes up. this can take a slow moving stock and get it moving again."

dsm091 said: "I bought some shares, doesnt move very much, but after about 5-10 years they will still be around. I like Intel and AMD. New to site hope to learn some things about stock trading."

trickynick said: "For some reason my gut reaction to talking about INTC has lately been to compare them to MSFT. One of my favorite statistics that I have talking about on here before is cash-minus-debt per share. Right now INTC has $1.75 and MSFT has $1.48. Both companies have lots of shares outstanding and have roughly equal share prices. MSFT's market cap is so huge that it seems plausable that INTC's chances of going up from its current level are higher than MSFT. But what makes the real difference is that MSFT's dividend yield at its current price is 13%! That is just mamouth dividends. INTC's is only 0.89% at its current price. That is why I own MSFT and no INTC. Dividends are generally regarded as an unimaginative way for executives to be effective in creating shareholder value during a period of time at which a hulking prosperous company really doesn't know what to do with itself. MSFT may just sit where it has been but it doesn't have to go up in price very much to make it worth having owned with a yield like that. It is true that they could cancel/change the dividend but they probably realize its been for some time the only real incentive to own MSFT. Also, I am sure all those guys sitting up in the boardroom like getting their dividend checks and as long as the company is not getting into trouble they don't want it to stop. I would love to see INTC go up significantly though because several of my family members not yet will suddenly become millionaires if it ever does."

dsm091 said: "I am in the IT business back home and I know what I fix the most, AMD and Intel will be around forever I am sure, I havent seen a cyrix chip or any others in a long time, and now Apple is using Intel. Good long term investment, as for microsoft they are a big company in my eyes that is out sourcing their programming to much. But this thread is about intel so I will keep it on track."

AlfredSokol said: "Intel is also finding growth in more chip segments. Add to that their incredible manufacturing prowess and you can see they're still a force to be reckoned with. I consider INTC a long term accumulate. I am also biased by one thing: in the early 1990s my mother sold her ATT stock and I told her to put into INTC. That $900 for 9 shares ended up being worth $9,700 within a few years. Will you see appreciation like that again? No time soon, but their enormous profitabilty will eventually raise the stock price."

dsm091 said: "Plus INTC and AMD are competitors that really benefit from each other in my eyes. I own them both, AMD is doing really good right now. What would be good to find out is about the video card makers, decent potential in Nvidea and ATI."

AlfredSokol said: "I'll give the CEO at AMD a lot of credit. In the last few years he has made them very competitive. I also worked in the computer biz and definitely remember Cyrix! We used to talk those chips up, even though they overheated. As long as you had a giant fan on it, you should have no problem. The Intel chips always had the most stable performance, especially when it came to running software."

dsm091 said: "AMD is cruising right now, I am sure when it starts dropping INTC will moving again. I wish I had more money to dump into these stocks, but oh well have to start somewhere."

HappyHarry said: "How good is Nvidia?"

alhamid said: "don't forget hard drives are very hot now... they are used in so many devices...maxtor, wdc, and seagate all worth a look"

dsm091 said: "
How good is Nvidia?
Nvidea is a great video card maker, INTC and NVDA are teaming up to make better motherboards. I could see these as more of a long term stock, I will do some investigating and get back to you guys."
