I know a lot of people hate them, and when ever I mention penny stocks in these forums a bunch of people jump on me with the warnings of lossing my money. I was just thinking if we had a seperate sub forum devoted just for stocks say under $10 in share price, than all the people who don't like to partisapate in those discussions can just avoid the forum.
Or is it that the temptation to spam promotion to high?

This site used to have a penny stock forum. It was full of constant spam/pumping/crap... the regulars were often rude and more prone to personal attacks than equity investigation. The site eliminated that forum about 4 - 5 months ago and things have been quieter, to be sure - but considerably more professional. It is hard to have an intelligent conversation/discourse about a stock that is worth $00.0001 and such..... Might as well have a forum for blackjack and roulette players....."

Why don't you tell us what you "really feel"??"

Penny pumpers are sort of rude and work to rip people off."

Sadly everybody think's their penny stock is compelling for the wrong reason. That's the only category that you can con a few people to buy and make the stock number actually go up.
Why don't you just buy a whip and torture yourself?:D"

should be totally separate.
Some stock threads get a little convoluted when one school is chatting up "investment strategy" while another school chat's up profit by small shifts by buying large quanities.
Sometimes it's like 2 different conversations. Newbies gotta be pulling their hair out."
thezster said: "The trouble with trying to restrict long term investments away from short term investments in a forum is - that there is quite often an overlap in rationale for buying/selling equities, regardless of time frame. For instance, the subject of a July 28 "rally" affects both types of investors - drawing the interest of both types - and giving both types of investors insight into the rationale of each other.
Personally, I give newbies the credit for being able to sift through the information and drawing out the parts that pertain to their own style (or future style) of investing. If they can't do that - maybe they should be considering a savings account at their local branch bank.
All that being said - if you would prefer the "daytrader faction" to refrain from posting to your threads - just say so - I, for one, would respectfully honor that request."

I will agree with you to the extent that I think it would be helpful if people would give some indication of how long they intend to hold a stock when they talk about it. It would also be helpful if people asking for advice would give some indication whether they are short, medium or long term traders. Unfortunately it seems many people dont have a time frame in mind. They just like to buy stuff.
I also think it would be helpful if people that dont like daytraders/daytrading would refrain from posting in threads started in the Day Trade sub forum. I take that back. They help keep the threads bumped to the top of the New Posts search list."

I, for one, don't mind a bit when a long term "investor" type questions my threads in the daytrading forum. I know they don't understand my rationale for what I do (buying MAGS for example)- but their questions sometimes make me think about, on occasion, the equities in question. And, if I can enlighten them (not change their minds.... simply enlighten them) - well, great. If not - no problem - I'm not here to change people's minds - simply to try to explain what I do if asked. I'm the first to admit that I'm nothing special - I simply do what I do - with reasonable success over a number of years.
Plus, as you mention - it keeps the thread current and makes readers "think" - which is the main objective of this web site-is it not?"
