Bush's use of "the way foreward" in Friday's press conference

Not once but TWICE he referred to his continued plans for Iraq and the war on terror as "the way foreward." I kind of chuckled the first time he said it but I was shocked to hear him say it a second time. This wasn't a canned speech either, he was answering questions from reporters for some time during the conference. Not that it is a bad phrase in itself, just not a good choice in the circumstances in my opinion. To compare, even it a sublte perhaps unconscious way, the situation in Iraq to the situation of Ford seems tantamount to an admission that things are really not good. I just think he had been watching the news or was briefed that morning on the events and that phrase stuck in his mind. I haven't heard anyone in the punditocracy comment on this so I am beginning to wonder if I am the only one who has noticed. Did any of you?"
