Mr. Gekko said: "Here's my point of view on Cramer... I have a great deal of respect for him. He got me interested in the markets and taught me the basics with his book. Having said that, I've learned not to buy his picks at the time of suggestion. I think a lot of people misinterpret what he's actually trying to do. He's not saying "buy, buy, buy" (even though he hits a button saying exactly that). He's suggesting a stock as a candidate... something you should do homework on. If you view his picks/suggestions in this way you'll be able to separate the good form the bad. It only makes sense to view it this way. I mean, if he ran his Hedge Fund as he does his TV show he never would’ve been successful!"
Paq13 said: "hmmmmm...that just makes ya wonder on how he did run a hedge fund. Maybe if he didn't affect the stock that much that quickly, then his picks would be better over time. not really sure. i just know that i'll be more careful with his BUY BUY BUY messages, may be a good way to learn to buy a stock with a trailing stop and short a stock with a limit the instant it tanks...
sound good? Everytime i think i have something like that, i'm reminded of hte quote, "Things in the past often repeat themselves...until they don't""

Were he still running his fund, he would be buying/selling his picks hours/days earlier than his current "schedule" allows, due to the time delay caused by the broadcasting gods. By the time you hear it - it's "OVER"......"

He ran his hedge fund during one of the greatest bull markets in history. Everyone was a stock market genius then. All you had to do was buy, buy buy."
thezster said: "I was running my personal "fund" during those years - and easily averaged 25% - 30%/year.... does that put me in the same bracket as him??
I gotta get me a TV show....."
Rickster said: "Sounds right to me. But you might want to go with a radio show, so you dont have to uncloak. :D"

B I T E M E ! ! ! ! I'll have you know my dog has gotten to the point where he will play with me even if I don't tie a pork chop around my neck....:p"

Newbies - take the above as intended.... as a "funny"... (just watchin out for my "new guys/gals"..."

I wouldn't buy, sell or short regardless of what Cramer says. I was just trying to explain what I think he's actually doing. Although, with a 44% accuracy a short may be a good bet.
And... yes... I did laugh at his responce Zster. ;)"
Lagg-Alot said: "One thing true Cramer said in his book:
"When the analysts like the stock it is time to dump it."
Only thing to consider now is that Jim is a TV Personality Analyst
He does have a lot of information, and his indorsment can bump a stock a little, as any analysts' opinion does (at least a good one). But most analyst just tell you after the fact when to buy, sell or hold. It is us the traders and investors that determine (by shear volume) what is a Buy, Sell or Hold. Only a really good analyst can predict what we are going to do. And if they are that good, they usually get a job managing a portfolio somewhere."

This is very true. And exactly why I stopped listening to his recommendations. Instead, I use his education from his book and find my own stocks."
