trickynick said: "Are share certificates and CD's the same thing? Check and see if it is FDIC insured, if it is then it may as well be called a CD. CD's are insured by the FDIC up to $100,000 so you'd be straight on the amount you are talking about. Also, the rates are annualized so a $1000 investment will become $1083.33 after the 10-month period is over. Either way that's a damn good money market rate, and well above market rates of interest which I agree with you does beg the question of whether you are missing something here.
Having said that, look into it. And if it checks out, and you have money sitting in savings or something like that and you know you're not going to miss it for the next 10 months and are for whatever reason not inclined to put it in something more long term at this point in time then it seems that this would be a good low-risk short-term investment."
