Scottrade vs. FirstradeScottrade vs. Firstrade
sp0om said: "This weekend I started moving the money out of my Ameritrade account and began the process of opening a Scottrade account. Then, I heard about another company called Firstrade, which like Scottrade, charges 7 dollars per trade. So it all comes down to interface. I saw a demo for Scottrade's new site and it looks quite quite good. I then tried to look at Firstrade's, but they seem to be having some problems with their site at the moment. Does anyone know which is better overall?
Thanks"

I just withdrew $2500 from my Scottrade account. I just called the local office and they mailed it to me, no hassles."
sp0om said: "I actually like the fact that they have local branches, but I don't think I'll ever need that. I'm very comfortable with having everything online. Like my ING direct account, it would be nice to have local branches, but having it all online doesn't hurt either. I'm thinking of opening an account at both Scot and First and see which one works best for me.
Thanks :D"

I think its a great idea to just try them both. $7 is $7 so it will come down to your user experience."

sp0om said: "Turning in my Scottrade app today. What's the turn around on this?"
HappyHarry said: "I don't remember it taking too long.
I've had the thing for 4 years now, so I honestly don't remember :)"
sp0om said: "The turn around was like 10 minutes. The guy there said I won't be able to trade until tomorrow, but the account is up and running. Can't wait to get home from school.!"
HappyHarry said: "Fast. Good to see the service is panning out."
KHHOUTX said: "sp0om how do you like ST? I have been using it for a few years now."
sp0om said: "It's great. I made my first trade with it the other day (although I was planning on staying in cash all summer). I'm getting used to it and am starting to like it even. The lower commission makes it better than Ameritrade in my mind. But, Ameritrade still had a far better user interface overall. But, I'm happy. After a year with Scottrade, I'll be switching back to Ameritrade (Izone)."
HappyHarry said: "The Scottrade interface is definitely simpler."
