NanotechnologyNanotechnology
Gene said: "What do you guys think of investment in nanotech companies? I was reading in Buisiness Weekly that there are quite a few of them out there which investors have thier eyes on. Im real new to investment/buisness but as a medical student with a BA in biotech engineering looking to do research in the medical application of nanotech, I can tell you that in 20-30 years going to your general practitioner for a flu shot will equate to going to a nanomed specialist for an injection of nanomachines. Aside from medicine, pretty much every trade will somehow exploit nanotechnology, from new matreials, to nanomachines, to nanoprocessors in the computers of the future.
Like I said, I dont know how the market works but it seems to me that investment in nanotech companies today will equate to enormous profits in the not-so-distant future.
Any thoughs?"

I think you have a leg up in that industry because of your educational endeavors.
The trouble I have is not understanding much of the terminology. Of course, I would invest in a nanotech company because the right technology could be a big winner."

Like some of the companies I have mentioned previously with the bio-chips and biometric companies, this is all technology that will take off within the next 5 years.
If you really want to drool over some new technological advancements, look at www.nanosonic.com. Don't bother asking if they are accepting any investment or trading, because they get all of their funding from NASA and the Gov't. So that is a no. (they plan on using this as soon as 2006, even just in toys...there is even a video they have of an airplane flapping it's wings and a train changing shapes. This is all driven by the force that is NASA)
Even though we are unable to invest, it allows you to see what is possible in all fields of science within the next 5 years. So nanotechs and biometrics are all a reality in the near-immediate future."

At some point, all of these opportunities will be exploited by someone.
The question is, who will build a market for their product?"

In some cases, the market for these products are already being laid out. (ADSX) has people already getting chipped, and they already have deals to get their products out in the military for POW purposes. Also, the NID card wave that is supposed to be in effect BY 2008 will give one of these companies a platform as this will be used. (I'm not positive, but I swear I read somewhere around 2 years ago about how ADSX will be involved with this in the US. But I haven't read any more) These cards will be mandatory if you want to fly, drive, purchase, anything you can think of.
Then you have the biometrics that will be requiring you to offer your fingerprint everywhere you go, or don't go. Online purchases will require a fingerprint, when you purchase anything via debit or credit, this will be used as well. I'm not even hitting on some of the real strong points either, I'm a little tired.
These are all the products for tomorrow and as soon as...well, tomorrow. Supermarkets have already made deals with biometric companies."
