We approach trading based on time and price.
Baskets (which are long and short - always) hold positions until the trigger or the stop is hit. That could be hours, days, or weeks. Once it hits, it is closed.
The rest of our stuff is all hedged out and mostly derivatives.
It is possible that we could have nothing in the portfolio - but the probability is very low."

Shouldn't the question be what is your ROI on your portfolio - measured both monthly and annually. Caculate the sharp ratio and then worry about volatility? Well - that would be my question.
The size the portfolio is less relevant. Big doesn't mean better.
Also - what are you refering to as size, market cap, margin, shares, number of issues?"

"This year" is kind of irrelevant to me. It's a buyers market right now, and I'm buying."

Be careful picking bottoms. What may seem like a buyers market on the surface could easily be a sellers paradise!
Don't be fooled by price, the true winners are those that understand Value!"
