Internet Explorer 7 Crapola...what browser do you use?

Harry said: "I wonder if anyone else here recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 7? I used it for about 2 weeks and just got rid of it. It was naggingly blocking a lot of sights I commonly visit. It's didn't like YAHOO mail...it didn't like Bloomberg...a couple of time it prevented me from seeing Scottrade. Well I uninstalled and live is smooth again! Anybody using Netscape these day or any other browsers. I'm wondering how they all are?"

Rbreb13 said: "I use IE7 exclusively. I don't have any problems after I set the configurations the way I like them. MS's idea for a proper configuration is way different than mine."

Mr. Gekko said: "I don't use IE at all. It always has too many security holes no matter how many patches Microsoft issues. I don't feel safe surfing around knowing my browser could easily make my computer sick. Rather, I use Mozilla's Firefox. It's free, a lot safer, loads pages faster and has free expansion packs that makes it better than IE. Plus (and I love this), you can set it up to delete your private info (cookies, downloads, pages viewed) automatically when you exit the browser. I guarantee when you try it, you'll never go back to IE. I know I sound like I'm trying to sell it but, it's really good software. Here's a link to the download site: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/"

Rbreb13 said: "
You never got blocked from websites?
Nope. I use Scottrade also and go to Bloomberg all the time. Don't use Yahoo mail though."

LongArm said: "IE7 is late to the party in implementing some of the features that Firefox and Opera have already had for quite awhile. I use Opera and I love it. Firefox and Opera have many of the same features, but with Firefox you have to manually add some of the components yourself, if I understand correctly. Opera comes prepackaged and loaded to the hilt with goodies. And I don't mean crap that does nothing but bog down the browser, but useful and convenient features that really make browsing easier and more enjoyable. I actually did my own speed test with IE6, Opera and Firefox recently downloading a 5MB and 10MB test file from a site several times (yeah, I had a little too much time on my hands that day). Surprisingly to me, IE was the fastest, followed by Opera, with Firefox being slowest. It wasn't a scientific experiment by any means, but the results were pretty clear. I don't know how fast IE7 is compared to IE6, though. I believe Firefox is probably the most secure browser, based on what I've read. It also has the blandest interface, if you care about that. And again, I think you have to add components. Opera is supposed to be more secure than IE and it's a dream to browse with, so for me, Opera is the choice. Hope that helps somewhat."

ADEBISI said: "FIREFOX rocks, 100% better then anything else out there:th_dblthumb2:"

Mr. Gekko said: "
Firefox all the way
Agreed.
FIREFOX rocks, 100% better then anything else out there:th_dblthumb2:
...and agreed."

LongArm said: "
Firefox all the way

FIREFOX rocks, 100% better then anything else out there
Gee, how can I argue those points? :th_coolio:"

Harry said: "FIREFOX is amazing! Thanks guys. It's like my high spped internet just doubled in speed and it's not hanging up on the typical problem places... http://www.thepocket.com/thankyou2.wav"

Darren said: "Firefox is the best browser. If you're still using IE, dump it. Way too many security exploits. Firefox is much faster, has more features, and doesn't crash. :th_dblthumb2:"

BenHouston said: "I must be living in the past still I love IE...my brother yells at me to swtich to firefox but I am happy with IE"

Cryogenix said: "I like the Mozilla builds, though they've now stopped. 1.8.1a all the way! Fast and reliable. I've tried Firefox a few times, but there was something about it that always kept me going back to Mozilla. Can't remember what it was... I.E. has always been crap and a target for hackers and attackers. Why make yourself a target when there are safer, better choices out there?"

BenHouston said: "Isn't mozilla the company for fire fox?...like isnt it Mozilla Firefox...just like Microsoft Internet Explorer"

LongArm said: "Those of you who think Firefox is fast should see this: http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html#winspeed The summary: "So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for Windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features." As for the other popular myths about Firefox, read this, it's pretty interesting: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html I'm just wondering if any of you Firefox fans have tried Opera, and if so, what do you like better about Firefox? Does the name sound better rolling off the tongue? :whacky011:"

Harry said: "LongArm I take your word...but my experience is MUCH faster surfing on my Optimium Cable TV high speed connection. All this time I thought it was a cable TV issue... ...going to Firefox is like going from walking to running!"

Cryogenix said: "
Isn't mozilla the company for fire fox?...like isnt it Mozilla Firefox...just like Microsoft Internet Explorer
Yes, to the first, and nothing at all like IE on the second. Load times are way quicker under Moz than IE - on all my machines, anyway."

SporeMonger said: "Mozilla Firefox for me. I had Opera a long time ago and loved it, then it started having problems viewing some content. I switched to Firefox and never looked back. Using IE gives me a feeling in the back of my throat of wanting to puke on Bill Gates. It's slow, has holes, monitors your surfing, doesn't have any good features, isn't very customizable, is the laughing stock of the internet, makes hackers (not using it) smile, etc, etc, etc. Hey Bill! :flipoff: I actually spent hours looking up how to uninstall it from Windows. I almost switch to a Windows XP lite version."

Mr. Gekko said: "
I actually spent hours looking up how to uninstall it from Windows. I almost switch to a Windows XP lite version.
To be honest, I'm not sure that would be possible. IE is so interwoven into the OS that Windows may not even be able to function with out it. I'd just delete the shortcut from your desk top and forget you even have it."

drdan said: "Safari and Firefox (for the sites that do not support Safari). I hated MS so much and IE especially that I completely went with a different type of computer. Now if only AAPL didn't screw me in the contest:angry: Am I the only one with a Mac?"

Mr. Gekko said: "
Am I the only one with a Mac?
I don't own a Mac but, my High School in Tennessee had them. I liked using them... solid machines."

Darren said: "I also switched to Thunderbird for my email and experience many less crashes while checking my mail. It also has great RSS support built in."

glock35ipsc said: "Firefox here! Use to use Netscape, but switched to Firefox and haven't looked back. IE is crap in my opinion, as I have never had good luck with it. On any of my computers."

duck_oil said: "I'm a Mac user too. I use Safari as my daily browser. There have been maybe 1 or 2 sites that didn't like Safari where I've had to fire up Firefox or IE. On my PC I use Firefox exclusively."

Harry said: "
Firefox here! Use to use Netscape, but switched to Firefox and haven't looked back. IE is crap in my opinion, as I have never had good luck with it. Plus it was eating up too many resources. firefox is the best and downloads the fastest with one of the "extensions" called "download them all" a download manager that makes downloading faster. do up firefox, you won't be disappointed!"

LongArm said: "
I used opera liek 4 or 5 years ago and i loved it because it was faster than IE. But you have to pay for the version with no adds.
Not any more. Opera is completely free and there are no ads. :th_dblthumb2: I've tried Firefox. It's the slowest of the three and lacks many of the goodies that Opera has."

lb19984 said: "http://celtickane.com/projects/jsspeed.php opera is 3.5 times faster than the competitor... has a lil test thingy too i love my opera... mua hahahaha"

Mr. Gekko said: "Just upgraded to Firefox 2.0. Very nice... I love the built-in spell checker. BTW, Mozilla announced that they will not release any more patches for version 1.5 after April 24th."

Rickster said: "If you were using pipelining to accelerate Firefox, you need to turn it off if using Firefox 2. If you dont, you will get frequent delays and occasionally hangs. There are too many servers out there that are not yet ready for pipelining with FF2. Might be able to turn it back on later."
