Book Review: Mad Money-Watch TV, Get RichBook Review: Mad Money-Watch TV, Get Rich
Mr. Gekko said: "I just finished reading Cramer's new book and I have to say I'm disappointed. It's supposed to be a "follow-up" to Real Money (which is much better) but, there are only three chapters that would fall under that title. Here's my breakdown of each chapter...
The first four chapters are basically a re-cap of his buy and sell methods previously stated in Real Money but, with less detail... I say, wasted space.
I thought the "Lightning Round" chapters would've been educational but, all I learned was I'm already doing my own "lightning round" each time I look up a stock on Yahoo!.
The last two chapters, "How Do I Pick Stocks for the Show?" and "Everything you wanted to know about Mad Money...", are wasted space as well.
That leaves the three chapters that are of use. They are Ch. 7 - "How to Watch CEO Interviews", Ch. 8 - "New Mistakes, New Rules..." and Ch. 9 - "Ten Lessons from Success...". These chapters do offer good information and are self explanatory by their titles.
If I had a sound board, I would hit the "Don't Buy" button. Just borrow it from the library or a friend for the few chapters that are actually useful. If you still want to buy it, wait until it gets placed at the bargain tables at Barnes & Noble."

Sounds like what you discovered inside is what I would have expected from just reading the title. Watch TV - Get Rich. :whacky011:"

I will say this about him, he knows more about the workings of the stock market than anyone I know, so I do learn from watching his show.
I got a Costco magazine in the mail yesterday that had a feature article on him. The guy is in perpetual motion, always on the go, gets about 4 hours of sleep a night and does an hour and a half workout every morning. His life is a "lightning round"."

So, he writes a book on how to interpret his TV show recommendations... :signs053:
Anybody that buys into Cramer's crap is either a newbie, or very naive."

Exactly Rickster. It seemed like a big promotional text book for his TV show. That and the co-author (Cliff Mason) is his nephew. He must have needed a couple extra bucks."

Well, I have to say it was more inspirational for me. I got hooked on the show and decided to give the market a try. That said, I think this forum is a much better educational tool. Yet, as I've said in other threads, Cramer's other book "Real Money" is excellent and should be read by all noobs."

Well, since it's the only "beginner" book that I've read I can't tell you either way. I will say that he put some things in it that I haven't seen elsewhere. Such as, a cyclical trading chart and some good rules to trade by. It's also on audio book if your eyes get lazy."

I totally agree. The books are inspirational and an excellent tool for novice investors.
I suppose in a technical sense book 2 should should have been called a re-write of book 1. Cramers more clearly refines his methods of scrutinizing a stock. Book 2 makes book 1 appear incomplete.
Book 2 was a huge wake up call to the novices too. Apparently the Cramer fans where wisking up his stocks and getting shorted on a regular basis. Cramer's fan base and their behavior to his stock highlighting apparently took him by suprise."

I will give him credit for that. He explained that you shouldn't buy a stock he mentions right away in AH. Wait a few days and buy after the idiots are done eating it up. He must've read the numerous posts about the "Cramer Effect" we have here. ;)"
Raharu Haruha said: "I am a newbie, i'm really into him, and i feel i learned a lot from the book. the most important piece of advice was that everything can look good, but it's your job to separate the cream from the crap. for example, if you watch his show expecting to find a good banking stock, he may offer a great banking stock, but you have to realize that it's not a good sector right now, so the chance that you're going to make money in it is low.
he also said that other analysts will also give positive reports on stocks just because they need to have some stocks to recommend in each sector.
another thing i learned, more by trial and error than anything else, but he did say it, you need to know exactly how the companies make money. when i look on a company's website i don't always go to the investor's section, i often see how easy it is to buy what they sell."

I have read it and I think it's great. Worthy of a movie, IMHO. :th_coolio:"
