There are trains reaching 250 km/h (in japan, sk, and china) and r&d for even faster (350km/h)...:dazed052: I could see this type of transportation becoming popular in the us....come on ... 16 hours from nyc to la? it's not too bad an idea, but ever happening ?:signs053:"

Mr. Gekko said: "I love to travel by rail but, Zster is right. The U.S. has a "lone ranger" attitude when it comes to transportation. Unless the destination is really far away most people would rather go by car. It's ashame really. I mean, in the early 1900's train travel was the thing. Getting to your destination was just as glamorous as the destination itself... sometimes more."

Of course, you all are totally right with the "independence" of Americans and our love of the automobile. Plus, our distances are much greater between points of interest that it makes it much less feasible. It's too bad."
