All I can say is read, read, and read some more. I know that probably doesn't sound fun, being 13, but there are some stories that you can read that won't be too far over your head that are still interesting. Once you get the basics of the stock market figured out, you might want to read Nick Darvas' famous book (ask your Dad, he probably knows about it). It is a pretty easy read, and definitely an interesting story about how a dancer became a millionaire playing the stock market with no help whatsoever!
Good luck!"

Lesson number one:
Look at old people.
See what they have. See how some like better than others.
Young people do consider that some day they will sit there and say..."OH MY GOD...I'M 46!!! :dazed052:
Part of life is having a plan...many plans...occupation...Financial security."

I have a notebook full of notes, charts, spreadsheets and whatever. I keep track of every trade I make. On days when I feel down about my trading I go back and look at things to see what I've done before and why I will or won't do that again.
It does take some time to do but knowing why/when/how I entered a trade is important. You can track your successes and your failures.
I keep track of everything that pertains to an individual trade. Price/time/reasons/targets/exit strategies, etc. Was the market down/up that day/week? How was the sector/industry doing that day/week? Thoughts/whims/dreams, I mean everything."

That's one of the best tips you'll get, Pyrostock. Excellent advice."
Cryogenix said: "Welcome, Pyrostock!
I'm big on reading and learning, so my advice is to read all you can about everything pertaining to investing. Of all the books I've read, I'd say THE single-most important one that I wished I'd read as a teen (and that I would confidently and highly recommend to anyone with kids in their teens or in college) is:
Automatic Wealth for Grads by Michael Masterson.
It covers everything from how to invest, why to invest, how to go after jobs, how to increase your income, business ops, etc, etc, etc, and in VERY simple, easy-to-understand terms. It really is a MUST-HAVE! Should be mandatory reading for Junior High and up students everywhere! :th_dblthumb2:
Good fortune to you! Start saving your pennies and picking up any you see on the street. Every bit helps! :)"
