Determining future stock price

Darius said: "I see a lot of people on here throwing around numbers on how high they expect a stock to rise. How do you approximate what that magic number will be? Or are people just pulling numbers out of their arses?"

AlfredSokol said: "You need to calculate it based on earnings. You need a projected stock price before buy it or you won't know when to sell."

chahinemm said: "usually the price we take out depends on our individual analysis and perception of the business and how we see the business will perform now and in the future and it involves a bit of guess work taking all the informtaion that is gathered and your guess work becomes better the more u deal with it and u become more and more accurate but that is usually with a lot of practive and trial and errors... im still not perfect... :D chahine"

AlfredSokol said: "Or you could just pull a number out of your "arse". Whatever soots you. :D"

ToastMonger said: "There's no equation that we use in order to get our predictions if that's what you're asking. You just have to look at what kind of gains they have been having, what kind of income they are making, and stuff like that. You just have to temper the research with common sense."

HappyHarry said: "I'll point out the obvious, too: no prediction of the future is likely to be 100% accurate. You can make an educated guess though. That's the difference between gambling and speculation. A speculator has a rationale behind his trading decision. A gambler leaves it all up to the fates."
