1.95% institutional buyers...good luck my friend, you'll need it."
Darren said: "Why drag trash like this into the discussion?
What exactly is a "wack load" of $1 stock? 100 shares?"
Corey said: "Personally, I wold prefer to buy a stock with low institutional investors and high insider numbers -- it means that the company hasn't been 'discovered' by the street.
And Darren, I know you are moderator and all, but if you had read some of EstateReal's previous threads you would recognize that he is touting stocks from a Canadian Stock Exchange from the TSX Group called The TSX Venture, a group of industrial related stocks (with very real assets) that just so happen to trade in the lower dollar range. In my opinion, he has given plenty of evidence as to why these aren't your typical penny stocks."

Technically a "Penny Stock" is defined as any stock selling for less than $10.
Plus, he doesn't need to "tout" any stocks at all, as far as I'm concerned."

This stock's been around 10 years. If the street's only discovered 1.95% it's a negative brand IMHO. And I couldn't find "insiders"...don't even know if they exist on this one.
Look at what we don't know...

Respectfully, I perfer undiscovered stocks with data backing them up."
Darren said: "EstateReal bought 10 stocks and all were around $1.
Sounds like some serious bottom-fishing going on.
BTW, Corey, are you his online defense attorney or something ;)
"
Corey said: "And I agree Harry -- undiscovered with data to back it up is best. I haven't done any DD on the company, but was just posting some initial thoughts.
Anyway, Darren, I feel that EstateReal brings a different form of investing to the forums. He isn't pumping and dumping pennies, but rather finding well developed companies that are trading at very low prices. He has posted plenty of quality info in other threads on REITs and other forms of investing, so I don't think this guy just plans on gambling his cash away. You were a bit quick to judge his post -- been falling behind on reading your own forums?"

Here is what EstateReal said on the thread "NI on the TSX" about his buying these low-priced stocks (5/23/2007)
"It's funny you compared it to gambling, because that is exactly what it is. Gambling. Risk vs. Reward.""
Corey said: "I don't mean to put words in EstateReal's mouth, but I think he was saying that gambling is the nature of the market. None of us know what way it will go, but as long as you can put the odds in your favor by controlling risk and identifying reward, the gamble is worth it -- not that he was strictly gambling."
Darren said: "You're the one doing the talking for him, so you seem to be putting words in his mouth.
As to your smart ass comment about reading threads...well, you can suck it pretty much
:flipoff:
I guess this is what made me think he's a pumper:

EstateReal said: "Wow. Some people take my picks personally. I guess what some people can't comprehend scares them. If all all my threads had been read I dont think that I would be known as a pure Gambler. Corey has read most of my posts and knows that I have core holdings and that Im not a pure meatball. These "Penny stocks" would count for about 10% of my yearly investing. (MFC, BNS, CNE, EQN are my core...)
Im not arrogant enough to believe that my threads are read by everyone. So im not offended by Darren. And Darren I bought 1000 of each pick. Which isn't a lot bout could be if one or 2ever hit 50$/share. What if all 10 were eventually 10 bucks share and over? What then? Is this possible Darren? Is it likely? Absolutely not. But possible?
I have my picks under my signature. Its called putting my stock pick "reputation" on the "stock forum" line. lol While people are watching CNBC and listening to a bunch of crap, Im watching The Canadian Buisness News Morning. A sobering look at the global economy. There's a USA segment in the show and a European market watch. The TSX Venture exchange is closely watched and taken seriously.
Okay. And for the stock. It was rated top 50 in the TSX Venture Exchange by The Globe and Mail which is the Canadian version of the Wall Street Journal. The TSX Venture lists 2200 companies which have been outperforming the SNP 500 the Dow Jones and the TSX for a while now. Im sure you knew this already Darren. Im not sure why Im repeating it. And by a fluke, I meant that I wasn't looking to invest in credible, reputable, nice storied penny stocks that have shown growth for the last three years in good sectors. Thats my defenition of a fluke. Im rocking you here. Maybe I should be a moderator. No, no just joking. Im not ready for that kind of pressure yet.
I share my ideas in good faith on this site. Showing my picks publicly adds to the pressure which I enjoy, and keeps my picks honest. I shared ELR, EQN, and BWR earlier this year and I got bashed for it. Hey its cool. My bank account told me that everything would be oooooookay. Darren I apreciate your criticism and I know realise that I didnt explain all the facts in great enough detail. Always feel free to ask me anything."

...or "pumping" since this is a forum with a high volume of traffic."
EstateReal said: "For Darren and Mr Gekko.
On April 21-2007 I picked these stocks for my investment group. Roughly 3 months ago. We are up 14%. Excluding dividends. Is that good?? Im not sure. (; Are we well ahead of the market? I guess I was advertising thses stocks too, to "Pump" them. That's why they went up so much. Because Mr. Gekko, I pumped them. Not because they were great stocks. I hope people don't follow me that closely. If I can pump the market we have a sad market. Ive only been doing this for 4 months. It must be luck. lol
1.Brazil index stock. (top 20 stocks of brasil)
2. VGK European Index stock 2.7% Dividend
3. PCU Coppen/Silver/Zinc Mine. 10% dividend
4. EWL Switzerland Index fund. 1% Dividend (Top economy of the world)
5. EWA Australian Index fund. 2% Div. Strong precious metal resource
6. DFN Great Canadian stock with all our banks exposure + 7%Div.
7. FRO Oil Tanker company. 22% Dividend. A little more risky but good history
8. FDG Canadian Coal company. 11% Div. (The teachers pension owns a boat load of these)
9. DPD 30 Best US companies that pay dividends. 8.5%Div. US diversity. Why not.
10. HCN Health Care Real Estate company for mostly old people.. Baby boomers!! Suckers!! 6% Dividends

Do you have any proof about picking these stocks 3 months ago?"

Zing!"
Corey said: "Once again Darren, maybe if you read your own forum more often, you would realize that he made a post here about these picks. And look at the date ... three months ago.
While I have tremendous respect for Mr. Gekko, and appreciate the forum you have set up here Darren, neither of you really can pass any judgement on this guy becasue you haven't participated in shit for the last three months. EstateReal does things differently, but he is open and honest and fairly humble.
I would love to see the last great pick you made Darren, or the last great post you started about alternative investment techniques."
Darren said: "You have be one of the most condescending people I've run into on any forum, Corey. And that includes this one.
You got me. I run a network of 42 websites that I own and do my best to monitor all of the content, but obviously I don't study every post in depth.
What does that have to do with my offering my opinion? His first post in this thread was complete garbage, and he didn't reference the post he made either."
Corey said: "I will give you some time to reread this thread Darren. You know ... this one, where EstateReal presents a new stock that follows along the lines of his recent investing adventures and you are quick to pass judgement without even reading any of his latest threads. Then, on top of that, when I try to defend EstateReal, you sarcastically ask if "I am his lawyer." Then, when EstateReal tries to defend himself, you say he has a "Messiah Complex", when he openly admits that luck was involved with his picks. And then what happens? I give you indesputable proof and all you can say is that I am "condescending" -- even after I tell you how much I appreciate the forum you have set up.
Yeah, read it again and realize that EstateReal and I are the only ones who haven't fallen to childish name calling."
Darren said: "Personally, I don't consider name-calling childish. I guess that's the difference bewteen you and me, assboy. J/K.
Actually, if you're talking about the thread you linked to, it doesn't have these stocks listed. It has a completely different set of stocks in it.
Thanks for giving me more time to read the thread. I mean, I really needed it in order to comprehend the amazing 14% (annualized?) return he got on a completely different set of stocks.
His main post in this thread had very little info, and as even he figured out, not everyone will take the time to read all of his threads. Really, most people aren't that important where I'll "follow" every thing they say."

Regardless of where ever the Hell I was, I'm still entitled to my opinion. Even if he had all DOW stocks listened in his signature, I'd still call him out on it. No one else does that here and that's because we know better. Not only is it "pumping" but, it's arrogance."

I can positively, absolutely, without a doubt guarantee that the above sentiment is true. Only question is how long it will take.
That's the fun of the stock market - if you're willing to hold on long enough - damn near anything will pay off with a profit... of some sort."
JAP said: "Even though I don't trade pennies, I'll be spending some time in this forum for the pure entertainment value."

EstateReal said: "I think we can agree to disagree here. Maybe we shouldn't talk about stocks anymore. Lawn Bowling is neat.
Thanks for mentioning my previous posts Corey. Their minds seem to be made up though. These guys like to argue even when they've been proven wrong. Which I respect. I would possibly do the same in a more diplomatic way. Im 28 years old, Im a little more tolerant and forgiving then Darren and Mr Gekko. I guess some folks just age and then stop growing as people. Stop taking in new ideas. Maybe ego and pride limit them? Im not sure. Either way it's a formula to a hurtin wallet.
At my age I can take more risks then some.
Its in my nature to give advice. Thats why I got called arrogant and "the Mas.... some kind of disorder that I wont bother googling. Im sure it's a funny reference. No one likes a good joke like I do.
I just do things a little differently. Im a leader in nature and not a follower. And mixing Good dividend paying stocks with penny stocks at a 90%-10% ratio is called diversity. Or diversifying risk Mr Gekko. I can write you a personal email and explain this one to you if you wish. It's kind of easy to grasp. I don't mind doing it. And i decided to stick with my original picks for my stock group Darren. Didn't deem it necessay to post that info. at the time. People didn't offer me much feedback during my original posting, so I didn't feel any loyalty to the forum.
So why introduce a stock like BRX on a stock forum? Because this is a stock forum. Plain and simple. Your replies made me think about stuff other then stocks. Like: Why are we on this forum? Why do I share any of my TSX knowledge here? I think what makes a forum work is sharing of advice. Different advice.
Im sure people will come back with more immature comments about pumping and arrogance. But really read my posts through. Give me something intelligent that i can work with that will help us in the goal of making money."

EstateReal said: " So do you still want that diversifying risk email I was talking about? Or was that a no? That is a win little friend. I have other things on the go so Im not always on this site. (;
What did I prove wrong? Just the general direction the post took. My arguements and facts. How I argue and discuss things. You know staying focussed on the point and being able to evolve from my original ideas and thoughts. Admitting misstakes and being wrong is okay. If this was a formal debate it would be no contest. But I guess ," Fuck off" is still a valid point. Re-read the entire post and you'll see what I mean."
