Can anyone recommend a good discount broker?

jyates said: "Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good discount broker that has low commission rates or even based on a percentage of your account value? I was using one that charged me a flat 2% of my account balance yearly but their online interface was sub par and they also didn't allow me to enter buy limit orders before the market opened and I couldn't deal with that. I've tried Ameritrade and really like their online interface but the 10.99 per trade with the quick in and outs I'm doing gets too costly. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Jim"

So I can trade online all I want, do everything myself, but still have a "face" I can see. I don't have to mail any forms if changing something, I just run it down to ol' Eric. Must be the southerner in me wanting a face behind the company . . ."
