Real Estate in addition to

Columbo said: "Do you feel that real estate adds value to a portfolio? What about security? after all there is always value there. If you were investing in a fund, would it make you feel more secure if real estate was one of the holdings?"

Aligator said: "I don't really know about the fund question, but we are BIIIIG believers in real estate as a portion of our net worth. Real estate provides a stable income and I don't have to watch the value fluctuate all over the map; there are days when that's nice. FYI: We have two condos paid for and rented out. No turnover of rentors to speak of."

Seems like a pretty good deal to me and, once I (and the RE market) stabilize a bit, I plan on beginning to add real estate to my portfolio."

FirefighterB said: "True, but as long as you keep it rented for most of the time, it's tough to beat having someone else purchase your investment vehicle for you."

Pb3190 said: "If you are talking about rental property, I agree with you. I meant real estate in general, including REITs. Having someone pay for your property while maybe making some money from the rental as well would be hard to beat."
