Baltia Airlines (BLTA)

Corey said: "After doing some research on iHub about DPDW, I found several posters who I thought were great contributors, and decided to see what else they were interested in. Baltia Airlines, BLTA, is a small airline company trying to run the first non-stop route from JFK to St. Petersburg, Russia -- the 4th largest city in Europe. It will also be the only non-stop flight available to Russia -- most other flights take around 17-20 hours. BLTA has been given permission to fly an 8 hour flight! Now, BLTA tried once before but failed, due to funding (the floor was pulled out from under them right before their IPO) -- however, the FAA has given them permission because they believe in BLTA's startup potential. Many other companies began as single-jet airlines, and BLTA hopes to have two to four jets after they begin flying. Besides passenger travel, BLTA has already laid out plans for shipping -- which majors distributors such as DHL, have already said they would use to maximum capacity. So why is this stock at $0.20? Well, for one thing -- BLTA hasn't made a single flight yet. As well, this company has been around for almost 20 years! You can imagine that investors would get pretty tired of waiting. So why now? Why bother with this company? The company has already picked out a jet, has proven its dedication, already has a terminal at JFK, and already has been given permission (and is the ONLY company given permission for the route). All the pieces are falling into place. So for now, I put this on my speculative watch list. Airlines are tricky ... but something like BLTA could skyrocket right into dollar land quite quickly after their first flight. Opening up a major portal in Russia, and being the ONLY company with a non-stop trip would give them a huge competitive advantage in both the passenger and delivery markets. If you are looking for a speculation play, BLTA is definitely worth a look. For now, it is on my watch list. The exec board has already proven its dedication ... I am just waiting for a bit more proof for execution skills."

Corey said: "Hence why it is a penny stock, smart ass. Of course things can go wrong -- but many, many airlines have started as one jet airlines. They chose the jet specifically to minimize risks because they acknowledge that they will only be starting with one jet. It is one of the lowest-service jets in the industry. The company is doing everything it can to mitigate risks in the first year. I am not saying anyone should buy at this point -- if they do, it is entirely speculative. I am personally waiting until further execution -- until the company buys its second, or third planes (which could be within a year of the innaugural flight)."

http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=23899505 Basically -- all the promises we are hearing now have been heard many times before. Unless BLTA can figure out a way to get more cash, that promised inaugural flight in February/March just isn't going to happen. Most of the bashers from the 2002-2003 era point out that BLTA can't fly with only $3000 in the bank. BLTA is just a pipe dream ... or is it? Looking at this post ... http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=23708951 We can see that over $1.5 million has been raised...and the company is closing in on $2M. These numbers come from a GOVERNMENT FILING, so they chances of them being faked are slim. For the period ending June, 2007 we can look at the SEC report and see that the company has $664,000 in the bank (check the most recent 10QSB)...with what looks like very little liability. So perhaps that plane will fly yet. I am keeping a watchful eye on this one. I will let you boys know if I hear any news."

What information do they want? A couple more filed papers to make things legal, evidence that the owners are actual American citizens, explanations of how the company will manage cargo and passengers with one plane, ground handling agreements, information on board members, and a financial fitness test. Basically, to me, it looks like reading BLTA's answers will actually be all the DD you would need to do to invest in a company like this. I will keep you all updated..."
