But as of now AMD is holding Support at a HIGHER LOW which technically speaking equals an Uptrend :th_dblthumb2:
You have heard "Buy on Rumor, Sell on News"? well this just may be "Sell on Rumor, Buy on News" (News being when they release the earnings) I have seen bad forecasts followed by Surprise Upside earnings before. In fact it is a trade mark tactic the insiders pull."

So I have the Wall Street Journal and the Investors Business Daily delivered to me everyday. It also helps because then I have something to read while I sit in my office waiting for something to move :lecture:
I am thinking about adding Barron's to my daily read, but I rarely get a chance to finish the two papers that I have now :dazed052:

I can see them as selling "patents" as salvage before going under.

AMD has made a bottom. AMD has rallied off that bottom in over %75 in share value (not your usual short covering). AMD has Traded sideways for months getting accumulated by smart money. In fact look at the volume on 4/8/08, 60,000,000 traded (over 3 times normal daily volume) and it did not make a new low. Someone is willing to take on shares at that price ($10,000,000 worth of shares). BAD news doesn't even make it go down any more. But I am not trying to sell anyone a used car, if you don't feel that AMD can make you money don't buy it. But from a technical point of view the uptrend is already underway. BUY on the Pull Backs :th_dblthumb2:"

There's no gain to Intel taking over AMD when they can just minimalize them and put them (AMD) out of business."

In CPUs this seems to be the likely outcome. AMD hasnt done much to beat Intel IMHO."

lil Dickie, it's as if Intel was "your" Kermit and AMD was the stuffed animal on the bottom."

That is good news at AMD. When you don't lose as much as usual you're having a record quarter."

Lagg-Alot said: "
You recommended this stock in March. Its still down from there and now your taking credit for a four day gain?
MARCH 15Th to be exact RatAphooey and that was pretty dam close to the TURN UP, a few percent actually.
And I never did actually say "BUY AMD" I said "TAKE A LOOK AT AMD" as in put AMD on your Watch List because a TURN MAY be coming soon. And I did say that if it does fall to a new low that TRADE should be canceled.
ONE MORE point I want to make. The UPTREND has just started. You are assuming it is only a bear market rally. May I ask what evidence you have to that effect.
I good strategy is to buy on the pull backs seeing as shorting the rallies has faded to almost no volume.
You did notice the Volume is Rising when the Price is climbing right?
While a am at it, I have noticed that some like to see strong balance sheets and good earnings before jumping in. I believe and you are free to disagree, that people buy and hold stocks for the expectation of future earnings. So if I wait for the good earnings you mean I would miss most of the rally up to that point? As all the Inside players and Professionals would be heavy weight in AMD when the Good Earnings are announced. Gee, I wonder who could be making all the Volume Bars Going up so high. Must be the amatures raising the price so they can get short AMD again. No I thing the Volume has increased enough to say that the Institutions are accumulating Shares of AMD.
As long as I see HIGHER VOLUME on up days and LOWER VOLUME on down days I will stay LONG AMD with a STOP LOSS to protect any profits.
That is how I read the chart, but hey if I am wrong I have a rule to protect my capitol. It is the STOP LOSS Rule.
Thanks for helping me to make a profit or teach me something new."

I am going to have to agree. AMD as much as I love their product is the davit to intel's goliath. Sad to say but I am not sure they will even exist in 3 years. I think they are prime for buyout. If someone with money like Microsoft or Google were to want to get into the chips market they are a great start. It makes me too nervous."

I'm with you. I even recently bought a "Dual Opteron" system which I love, but from a business standpoint AMD has never been in the same league with Intel."
rmelv said: "In your title you made AMD sound like a value stock. You should have been calling for a trade. Can you honestly tell me you plan on holding AMD for the next two years? Thats how long value plays usually take to pan out."
geomatster said: "The charts look good now. What about the long run, will it be able to stand against Intel?"
tomtat1 said: "Can anyone say the words Price War? Intel and AMD have been locked in a price war since 2002. While Intel seams to be winning it too has been a lousy investment for years. Check its long term chart. When two companies get locked into a price war get out of them both. If one company succeeds in destroying the other it may be a buy, but until then why bother."
