Wolves...

Yoshimi said: "I am really interested in buying a wolf. I have a 75% wolf 25% malamute right now, and he is an excellent companion. He is about 8 years old now and I want to buy a pure timberwolf, or arctic wolf, or british columbian wolf for him to raise, and make into a good dog like he is. Does anyone know where I could get a pure wolf for cheap? They are legal where I live, so the law isnt a problem. But if anyone knows where I could get one, please tell me. Thanks."

bobjitsu said: "Don't do it. They are wild and will not be domesticated, they will not accept you as alpha either. You hear stories all the time of someone owning a hybrid and it just attacking "for no reason". All dogs are decendants of wolves, if you want a dog that looks like a wolf I'd go with a Malamute. What purpose do you want one for anyways?"

Yoshimi said: "I live on 20 acres, and I need at good dog to keep deer out of the garden, and from killing chickens or anything like that, and my current dog is getting old. He is almost pure wolf and he accepts me as the alpha male, and if i got a wolf puppy, it would first accept Aspen (my current dog) as the authority, and see that he doesn't attack me, but obeys me and does my bidding, and the puppy would follow."

bobjitsu said: "My point was there are more than plenty of domesticated dogs that were bred to do different tasks, look in the working group. What area of the country are you in?"

I think Malamutes are more beautiful than wolves myself...
I need at good dog to keep deer out of the garden, and from killing chickens or anything like that,
Hey maybe one of those chicken-killing deer would be a good protector! They sound viscious!"

Yoshimi said: "ok wow haha i didnt see that, i meant a dog to keep deer out of the garden, and a dog that wont kill chickens...ha sry"

Heather said: "The frickin chickens can steer the deer. Won't find no wolf dogs anywhere 'round here."
