New to the board...advice?

I am absolutely clueless when it comes to the stock market but over the last few days I have been showing an interest and trying to educate myself on it. What I would like to do is buy some stock that is relatively cheap just to get my feet wet. I would like to hopefully turn around a small amount of money by purchasing some penny stock so that I can turn this around and begin to invest larger sums of money into higher stock. I may sound ridiculous with this idea, but like I said, I am clueless. I decided that joining this forum may help me get a better understanding of the stock market while at the same time possibly getting some tip offs for up and coming stocks. My question to all of you is, can you suggest anything for me to do to better educate myself? Do you have any tips? Suggestions? Is there anything you wish you did or did not know before you began investing in the stock market? All replies are appreciated. Thanks in advance."

Check it out over here: http://www.superiorinvestor.net/thread726.html Its inofrmative about the thought process for picking stocks and getting out when things may not be going well. A great read and its still evolving."
