Definition

The term "stock market investment" refers to purchasing shares of companies who are listed on stock exchanges. The stock market in the U.S.A. generally refers to stocks traded on the major exchanges, such as the NYSE and NASDAQ. You can also make investments in other companies with no market affiliations, but these types of investments are generally considered to be more risky.
